Looks good, they are made of HDPE (number 2 plastic) which means they won't offgas or leech xenoestrogens into the environment or its contents.

Number 3 and number 7 plastics can potentially leech endocrine disrupting synthetic estrogen mimic chemicals (xenoestrogens) into their contents.

Give these guys a call:

The 10 gallon drums work well for storage, they used to run $4.00 and up depending on the quantity you purchase. He has them stacked to the ceiling of his warehouse. They are "food grade" plastic that contained pharmaceutical chemicals which were totally encapsulated in heavy plastic bags (no contact with the drum itself) in their first use. I wash them, let water soak for a hour or so, drain, fill with a bleach/water solution, let set for a hour or so, rinse, fill them with clean water and let soak again, rinse and let dry in the sun. Then put your product in Mylar bags, you should be GTG.

They are located in Rochester, NY. Shipping is the killer with any of the storage containers, but you would have to ship the dog food containers you linked to so that is a mute point. If you are within driving distance, you are all set. You can easily put 40-50 in a full size pick up truck bed.

Ask for Paul, he is the owner, a "survivalist", "militia", nut case, he would fit in well here.

1 gallon paint cans w/the gold (USDA food safe) coating are only 2$ at Ace Hardware.

14$ to 49$ a container......yeah right.
